SCARCE - Little was know of these cards until a store display was discovered in the 1980's. Originally issued in a wax paper envelope with a serial number slip. They were made by Sports Co. of America of San Francisco for the A.G. Spalding & Bros. sporting goods firm. There are other sports in this set, 49 of the cards are baseball players, 175 total different cards. Many back variations, including one with a 1927 copyright on back (Ruth). There is also quite a few cards that have been handcut from sheets. |
