"Base Ball Star"

Notebook Cover Cut

RARE - Sometimes collected as cards, these large photos, roughly 4-1/2" by 7", were sometimes cut from the front cover of a ca.1930's notebook entitled "Base Ball Star" and resemble a large card or premium. The photo has an International Newsreel copyright at bottom along with the players name and sometimes position in a box at bottom. On the original cover, there is baseball equipment on a colored background, with most seen being tri-colored green, yellow, and red, with 1 having the colors reversed (Grove), and at least 3 covers having a solid red background (Gehrig, Hornsby, O'Farrell). A couple covers have been seen with an extra tab at bottom saying "Pencil Tablet, Property Of". There have been 13 different players seen so far with one player Hornsby having 2 different poses (1 red background) and others may exist. The known covers/cards are... Bottomley, Cochrane, Fonseca, Foxx, Gehrig, Grove, Hornsby (2 dif), O'Farrell, Ott, Root, Ruth, L.Sewell, Simmons, H.Wilson.
