Postager Stamp Photos

RARE - These small B&W stamp style photographs were produced by the well known Chicago baseball portraitist George Burke. The seldom seen real photo stamps (most with facsimile signatures) have preforated edges and are usually found in a .75" by 1" size but a slightly larger 1" by 1.4" size (far rarer) also exists. They were avalible for sale to the individual players who then usually used the photo stamps to answer fan mail, etc.  Large collections of different players are seldom seen. A complete set checklist is unknown with a great many players still uncataloged.  

All of these Burke stamps (below) were removed from a "salesman sample" catalog and will have black scrapbook paper residue on the otherwise blank back.
