VERY RARE - These minor league cards were issued by the Bowman Gum Co. and feature players from the Pacific Coast League. They are similar in design to the regular 1949 Bowman Major League cards, but are far far rarer. It was previously thought that the 1949 Bowman PCL cards were not sold with gum, but only obtained in uncut promotional sheet form and needed to be handcut from these sheets. But recent proof has found they were also limitedly distributed in regular packs of Bowman Major League cards in Portland, Seattle, and Bowman's home of Philadelphia. So hand cut and factory cut example do exist. There are 36 different numbered cards known. |
